For those of you in the industry, you don’t need any convincing of the importance of the Recruitment Agency Expo. As an exhibition dedicated to helping recruitment agencies find trusted partners to help them build their business, it’s a date most have in the calendar.

Having partnered with a number of recruitment agencies over the last few years, we decided it was about time we showed our face and so last week headed down the road to the NEC and took up residence on stand B27 for 2 days. With a real mix of rec to rec, executive search, perm and temp recruitment agencies we relished in the challenge of being able to help attendees not only understand the benefits of marketing, but provide practical advice for them to follow once the bright lights and exhibition stands came down.

Anyone that spoke to us will know that we’re keen advocates of building your brand and putting your candidates and clients centre stage. It was a key theme throughout our time at the expo and something that we spoke a lot about in our speaker slot, delivered by Harriet, our MD.

A reoccurring theme throughout the 2 days was time, or more realistically, the lack of. Unsurprisingly, most agencies understand that importance of marketing and maintaining communication with their clients and candidates throughout their lifecycle, the hard part is knowing what to say and having the time to say it.

With our seminar slot revolving around strategic planning for marketing, understanding your audience and finding the right channels to see the best return on investment, we like to think it struck a few chords with the attendees. Although anyone who attended would have heard that our rebellion to the rules meant we were rushing through an hours worth of content in 30 minutes (ok, we went to 40) we hope it was useful and may even have helped some of those top level conversations to get ‘management buy-in’ for spending more time on marketing.
